Origami Pictures

I like to do origami while waiting for things, ie waiting for dinner, traffic jams, doctor's appointments, boring lectures, waiting in line, etc. Makes me feel like I'm using my time productively instead of wasting my life away.

I don't keep the origami I make, I always give it away. I have about twenty or so designs memorized, most of them take about 5 minutes to make. I get the instructions from lots of different sources (internet, books, calendars, etc.) and can teach most people how to make em in about 15 minutes.

I use 2.5" square origami paper, since that's the largest size that will fit inside my wallet. You can find the paper at most art supply stores. I know Michael's has 6" square paper in various colors. Japanese bookstores like Kinokuniya would have the greatest variety though.

If you need help figuring out how to make any of this stuff, feel free to send me an email.

o Andreas rose - stylized rose design, takes me about 15 mins to make one

o M. Grey's butterfly - a butterfly named in honor of the lady who created a cataloguing system for origami

o Eagle balancing on a pyramid - made from two separate $1 bills

o Heart - a heart that stands by itself

o Flower kusudama - made with 60 sheets of paper

o Decorative box - a nifty origami box

o More origami fun - while at a wedding rehearsal dinner - June 2003
